Game on: Acer Predator 8 now available to pre-order, ships later this week (VIDEO)

If you've seen and liked the Acer Predator 8, a new gaming-oriented tablet announced in September, you should be happy to find out that the device is now available to pre-order in the US. Although it was supposed to be released on November 6, the Predator 8 will be shipped only starting November 17, and you can pre-order it either directly from Acer, or from Newegg (check out the two source links at the end of this article).

The Predator 8 has an unusual design that reminds us of Alienware's laptops, its standout elements being the 4 red font-facing speakers (with surround sound).

Powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z8700 procesor clocked at 1.6 GHz (with Turbo Boost up to 2.4 GHz), the new Acer slate sports an 8-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1200 pixels and tactile feedback, and runs Android Lollipop - though we assume that an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be available in the near future. Other features include a 2 MP front-facing camera, a 5 MP rear camera, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable storage space, and a 4550 mAh battery. The tablet also comes with Predator MediaMaster, a feature that lets users customize their video and audio settings in search for better gaming and multimedia experiences.

The Acer Predator 8 costs $299.99. Mind you, this is a Wi-Fi-only tablet, and we don't know if Acer is planning to release a 3G/LTE variant of it.
