Sony is rolling out an updated camera app for the new Xperia Z5 series of smartphones. The app was first shown off at IFA earlier this year. The new camera app focuses on simplifying the interface. You can now switch between the four main camera modes - Manual, Superior Auto, Video, and Xperia Camera apps - simply by swiping on the screen. The settings menu is now also more accessible and the various settings in Manual mode can be changed by swiping the sliders on the screen.
The update will be available to download in the 'What's New' application on your device.
Sony Xperia Z5 vs Apple iPhone 6s Plus Detailed Camera Comparison. Comparing the front-facing selfie cameras, the 4K/23 megapixel rear facing cameras, auto-focus and audio of the iPhone 6s Plus vs Xperia Z5 Premium for both video and photos with example shots indoors, outdoors and in low-light. Despite not knowing what Sony’s plans are regarding the launch of the Sony Xperia Z5 here in the states (they recently cancelled the launch of the Verizon Xperia Z4v), the device still has us intrigued. Not only does it look great, but the phone recently received top honors in DxOMark’s list of best smartphone cameras, edging out even the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Nexus 6P, and LG G4. With such a high score, you’d think the Xperia Z5 would have no trouble mopping the floor with the iPhone 6S Plus, but that wasn’t really the case…
Sony finally brought a completely revamped camera for its flagship Xperia Z series. The new cam features a next-generation 23MP sensor with Hybrid autofocus (which gets an accurate lock in just 0.03s), but optical image stabilization was not in the cards. Instead the company imbued the Xperia Z5 family with the Intelligent SteadyShot Active Mode - the lot of words to say digital image stabilization. Here's an official video that shows the Xperia Z5 camera put in a tough, dynamic environment.
The front-facing camera also supports SteadyShot to eliminate handshake from your selfie shots.
Here's a 1-minute look at the new camera specifications.
Back in September, Sony released a couple of "Made for Bond" teasers that promoted the upcoming 007 movie "Spectre" and the Sony Xperia Z5. With Sony's Columbia Pictures studio distributing the movie (which hits US theaters on March 6th), the electronics and entertainment giant decided to do some more cross-promotion of the handset and the movie.
In a movie-quality ad that was filmed using Sony's F65 professional 4K cinema camera, and directed by Danny Kleinman, we see Bond associate Miss Moneypenny using Sony's new Sony's RX100 IV to keep an eye on the bad guys as she handles a very important task . What kind of mission could she be on that would put her life in danger? She's delivering James Bond's new Xperia Z5 the British spy.
The ad will run the U.K. TV from November 1st through November 8th. This is not the first time that Sony has called on 007 to promote its handsets. Back in 2008, the Sony Ericsson C902 was featured in Quantum of Solace. Four years later, the Sony Xperia T Bond Phone was released with pre-loaded content related to the Ian Fleming creation.
The Z5 Sony Xperia, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Sony Xperia Z5 Premium will all be released next month. While you're waiting, grab some popcorn, turn off the lights and click on the video below.
One of the coolest features about the 23MP camera on the Sony Xperia Z5 is its sheer speed. Auto-focusing speed, that is, as the Hybrid AF technology in use lets the cam lock the focus faster than the blink of a human eye. Here's a demo. Image quality, however, is one thing. Camera speed is a whole different story. Both factors are of importance to anyone serious about photography, and Sony knows that well. As a matter of fact, Sony has time great efforts into improving the latter - we're promised extremely fast auto-focusing out of the Z5 smartphones' cameras. Given optimal conditions, they should be able to focus on an object in as little as 0:03 seconds, which is about 10 times faster than the blink of an eye. In comparison, the top phones of yesteryear boasted focusing times of about 0.3 seconds to 0:27.
But is the Xperia Z5's camera as fast as Sony claims it to be, or does the record-breaking figures exist only in the realm of theory? Well, our impromptu text gives a hint, and the results are very promising. While attending the IFA 2015, we took an Xperia Z5 and the way its 23MP camera to the test. Firstly, we pointed it at a far object until it focused on it. Then we panned the camera quickly onto an object located about 6 inches (15 centimeters) away from the handset. Did the camera nail it? See for yourself in the video below.
Barely a week before the IFA 2015 kicks off, the press images of the Sony Xperia Z5 have been leaked, confirming the upgraded 23MP rear camera. Although we have seen a number of Xperia Z5 images leaked so far, it is the first time that the camera specs have been confirmed. Chinese sources had recently indicated that the Xperia Z 5 will be equipped with a 23MP rear camera, so it turns out they were pretty accurate with the info.
The new sensor may boast of higher resolution, but retains the 1 / 2.3 "size of the IMX220 sensor used on the Xperia Z-series flagships right from the Z1 in 2013 to the Z3 + launched earlier this year. Apart from the sensor, the lens setup has been upgraded as well. It is now a six-element lens setup, similar to a number of other high-end flagship smartphones in the market.
For all of you who are not overly enthusiastic about the Xperia infection Z3 + (Z4), are coming new information concerning the Xperia Z5, Z5 Ultra and Z5 Compact devices. The latest information is that the Xperia Z5 be introduced in Japan in September.
While the Xperia and Xperia Z4 + Z3 were evolutionary, the Xperia Z 5 is revolutionary. Although there are no details about the display, the rumor has Sony counting on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC to power the phone. 4GB of RAM is inside and Sony will be employing a fingerprint scanner on the new model. A massive 4500mAh battery keeps the lights on.
The rear camera on the Xperia Z 5 is expected to feature the latest 21MP Sony Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS sensor, which will support 4K video recording and HDR capabilities. The same OmniBalance design will be used, which might be a disappointment to some.
They look like the rumors have surfaced in April. Then he also talked about the Snapdragon 820 processor and the same amount of RAM, as well as the qHD screens on all Z5 models, and Qualcomm's Ultrasonic Sense ID fingerprint scanner. It was the word and the new design of the device.
